A lot of (non-techy) people I’ve shown this to don’t seem to understand. That is the whole computer. It’s not a monitor. Well, it is, but the computer is inside it. That’s a cd slot on the right. Get it?

Okay, so the title’s a little corny.

This afternoon my nephew Tony, being the smart young man he is, decided to try on my girlfriends dog’s shock collar. I whipped out my cellphone and captured the moment for you all to see:

Rock Band

14Jul07

I recently (finally) purchased a second guitar for Guitar Hero II and have been having a blast playing the sometimes overlooked cooperative mode. This got me thinking about the upcoming EA/MTV/Harmonix venture Rock Band, so I decided to check it out a little more.

This game looks amazing. If you don’t know what Rock Band is, think Guitar Hero + Drum Mania + Karaoke Revolution. You don’t need four people to play, and I plan to mostly bypass the singing part of the game, but the drumming alone gets me excited for it.

The drum accessory that comes with the game can apparently take quite a beating, and Harmonix claims that unlike with Guitar Hero, if you can play Rock Band’s drums on Expert difficulty, you can play the drums in real life. Judging by the videos on YouTube, I don’t doubt that claim. They’ve even revamped the guitar accessory to include small fret buttons near the body of the guitar for solo sections where you don’t have to strum. That’s not to say that you can’t use your old Guitar Hero Axes though.

Excited? I haven’t even touched on the announced set list yet, which is what gets me more pumped than anything. I know almost all the songs they’ve revealed, and I can’t wait to drum to them. Here’s the list:

  • “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” – Blue Öyster Cult
  • “Enter Sandman” – Metallica
  • “Go with the Flow” – Queens of the Stone Age
  • “In Bloom” – Nirvana
  • “Learn To Fly” – Foo Fighters
  • “Main Offender” – The Hives
  • “Mississippi Queen” – Mountain
  • “Paranoid” – Black Sabbath
  • “Reptilia” – The Strokes
  • “Rockaway Beach” – The Ramones
  • “Say It Ain’t So” – Weezer
  • “Suffragette City” – David Bowie
  • “Tom Sawyer” – Rush
  • “Vasoline” – Stone Temple Pilots
  • “Wanted Dead or Alive” – Bon Jovi
  • “Won’t Get Fooled Again” – The Who

Can’t wait ’til November for a Guitar Hero related fix? Don’t forget that Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80’s drops in ten days.

EDIT: Joystiq just put up their first hands-on with Rock Band.

Okay, so I realize that there has been a severe lack-of-postage on my blog recently. Take this post as a promise that there are some good posts to come. I swear. Soon.

London 2012

This is the logo for the London 2012 Olympics. Yes, I’m serious.

It’s like… flashback to the eighties. It burns my eyes. Seriously, what is this! I can see it on the t-shirt of some girl wearing neon leg warmers…

Can you imagine seeing this in the bottom right of your TV in 2012? And plastered all over the walls at the Olympics? Ugh.

Also, there’s a new iPhone ad out, showing off the internet browser. Here’s some linkage.
